The Detroit Theater marquee says only “WIN” after the removal of the “T” and the “Detroit” components of the sign. Many would argue that this is not a win at all. Demolition of the old theater to begin sometime next week to make way for a new McDonald’s.
The ‘Detroit’ from the Detroit Theater marquee has been removed. Asbestos removal is finished upstairs, and the rest of the building will be ready soon. Demolition should begin in 2-3 weeks.
A fence has gone up on the east side of the theater blocking off the parking lot. A crew was onsite this morning to begin asbestos removal. Demolition could begin in 2-3 weeks. Erie Design has moved across the street, preparing for upcoming demolition of the building which includes the Detroit Theater. The Detroit Theater is selling theater seats and other memorabilia this weekend. Demolition and construction of the new McDonald’s is expected to begin this spring.
